Military Records

There are a range of records that have aided our research, though recent service material is understandably much harder to acquire. We have, however accessed certain nineteenth/twentieth century service material with Naval Records proving particularly useful. In addition to this, we have found WW1 & WW2 Casualty/Cemetery files both useful and - as with the following - somewhat moving discovery in one of our own trees, made via the CWGC...

Later research showed this sailor's death date as a mere 16 years 6 months.

We found his full service record and discovered that following an on-board incident, young Harry perished from cerebro-spinal meningitis.

During this research, we also established friendly contacts with offices in Edinburgh, Linlithgow and London.
